European travel appeals to me largely because of the prospect of meeting and mingling with locals. Equally enticing are the educational opportunities of seeing art and architecture, churches, museums, historical sites, and villages firsthand. This architecture is far from grand or ornate or significant. But it is simple, colorful and part of everyday life, as opposed to the Louvre or Cologne Cathedral.

I do not have a Tumblr, but I find myself perusing random Tumblrs more and more these days. I find beautifully striking pictures on that platform that I would not find elsewhere, and for that I am glad it exists. These are just a few places where I would love to spend a lazy afternoon by the water:

The only downfall of Tumblr is that many people don’t post photo sources or locations. And sometimes images are Photoshopped. I found all three images and more from BURRIS

I can dream with the best of them…

Sunshine. Clear skies. The sound of water lapping against the decks. Bright storefronts. Lazy, hazy days.

The smell of mountains. Warming green shutters juxtapose a stark countryside and cold, hard stone buildings.

Orange skyline. Cold, moist sand on bare feet. Floating clouds carry dreams. Peace come over you.

My head is all over the place today. Random thoughts flying in and out. What ifs dropping on me like bombs. Loose ends that need tying up. To-do lists. And admittedly, lots of stress. Naturally, as I was ignoring these scatterbrain moments during class today, I came across some fun and nostalgic photos of childhood favorites. And I suddenly find myself wanting to road trip to Coney Island, forget about said to-do lists, buy a cotton candy and forget to wear sunscreen.
